I am excited to tell you that we are in the final stages of being able to get information to thousands of Service members and their families in a matter of minutes.
3N Company (AT&T) has contracted with Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) to provide our Mass Communication System (MCT). Each Service member is being asked to submit their contact information for uploading into a web-based system that will allow the Family Readiness Officers (FRO’s) to send information to their trusted Family Members. Service members are required to provide at least one “Family Member” contact, defined by Headquarters Marine Corps (HQMC) as: The Family you are “Born into” (parents, custodial, in parentis loco, etc), “Sworn into” (Military), or “Married into” (spouse).
If you have children in school, you may be familiar with this type of program. The school system uses it to pass information to parents, with just a few clicks on the computer. The FRO will become the centralized person to pass Command related information to the families of the Service Members. EVERYONE receives the “same” information at the “same” time. Messages are in two forms: standardized information (events, etc) or emergency information (Tornado, earthquake, etc).
What does this mean to you? Ensure that your Marine or Sailor attached to a Marine unit, has your latest contact information. Your Marine or Sailor may choose up to five contacts. If you are interested in becoming one of these contacts, you may contact your FRO for a form to complete and send to your Marine for their signature. Their signature authorizes the FRO to add you to the contact list. Remember, your Marine/Sailor is an adult and privacy acts prohibit us from adding you (parents & family members) to the database or disseminating information to you about your service member without their authorization.
Once you are added and receive your FRO contact information. Keep your information updated by sending it to the FRO, who will update it in the MCT. This communication tool is one more step toward ensuring Mission Readiness.
